Triple Thrills

The FWD Champions Day has become the highlight of Hong Kong’s spring racing season, claimed its spot as one of the premier racing events in Asia and secured a firm position in the upper echelons of the global racing calendar.

Set to take place on Sunday, 26 April at Sha Tin Racecourse, FWD Champions Day features three highly anticipated Group 1 contests – the HK$25 million FWD QEII Cup (2000m), the HK$20 million FWD Champions Mile (1600m) and the HK$18 million Chairman’s Sprint Prize (1200m).

It is already one of the world’s 10 richest racedays and the purse is sweeter than ever: prize money for the three Group 1 races has been increased from HK$58 million to HK$63 million, while total prize money for the day, including supporting races, reaches more than HK$73 million.

FWD’s Managing Director of Greater China and Hong Kong Chief Executive Officer, Ken Lau, is clearly excited about the raceday: “Riding on the success of last year’s events, FWD is excited to celebrate living and engage with local and international audiences through this magnificent, first-class event. As a challenger brand that aspires to innovate and create refreshing experiences, we look forward to enjoying the energetic races of top-notch runners striving for excellence in the FWD Champions Day.”
