April 10, 2013 marks Beijing Clubhouse’s fifth anniversary.
In Chinese culture, “five” bears special significance as it relates to “wu xing”, the system of five elements that forms the basis of many fields of ancient Chinese thought, including astrology, feng shui, and medicine. Respecting the importance of the number five, the Beijing Clubhouse is celebrating its fifth anniversary with the Anniversary Cup race, an exclusive Members’ party, and a series of special promotions that will last throughout this year.
Depicted in the key visual for the anniversary celebrations is “五”, the Chinese character for five. Its resemblance to the structure of a building with a base, pillar and roof symbolises the juxtaposition of Eastern and Western architectural elements featured at the Beijing Clubhouse.
Each building block of the “五” character shows a galloping horse taken from the Portrait of A Hundred Stallions which adorns the wall of the Beijing Clubhouse. In addition to reminding us of the Clubhouse’s indelible connection to horses, the images perfectly represent Beijing Clubhouse’s passion, vitality and magnificence.
In five short years, the Beijing Clubhouse has received numerous awards in recognition for its culinary and service excellence, as well as its role in promoting philanthropy on the Mainland and inspiring people of influence – such as our Members – to participate in charitable activities.
