New Architectural Awards for LEVADE and The Library

The award-winning Beijing Clubhouse, fresh from a major renovation, combines business and pleasure like no other space. Club Members living in or visiting the nation’s capital have found that Beijing Clubhouse suits their every need – whether on a work trip or leisure visit.

When the Club first embarked on a complete renovation of the Beijing facilities, it was decided that Member feedback was vital: what do Members need and want that would address both their holiday and business requirements.

The impetus for the renovation is the Club’s desire to fulfil Members’ lifestyle needs. From Members’ feedback, it was clear there was a demand for more private function rooms to host business events, elite functions and family gatherings. As a prestigious private members’ club dedicated to the service of its Members, these views were central to the Club’s plans for Beijing Clubhouse’s renovation and the remodelling of facilities.

Inarc Design provided the master plan, architectural concept and interior space planning for Beijing Clubhouse. Their experts were no strangers to Members’ needs: the firm previously worked on a well-received overhaul of The Derby Restaurant & Bar at Happy Valley Clubhouse.

It is no surprise then that The Library and LEVADE are global winners for Inarc at the 2014/15 International Property Awards. LEVADE was voted Best International Retail Interior while The Library was named Best International Leisure Interior.

The Library draws on traditional Chinese designs to create a timelessly elegant venue that provides flexible and attractive spaces so Members can work, relax and do business while in the capital. The design focus is the creation of intimate spaces within the whole, achieved by using a modern interpretation of traditional Chinese lattice, featuring a translucent glaze that echoes the traditional translucent silk or rice-paper used in early Chinese screens.

There is a one-stop secretarial and executive services area as well as a formal restaurant, a smaller casual lounge/dining area and two private rooms. The Library is beautifully decorated and furnished with wheat-coloured stone floors and a light cedar and honey colour scheme.

LEVADE offers a modern, luxury boutique experience with distinctive spaces to accommodate the most discerning of shoppers. The basement location was a perfect opportunity to maximise light through bold design and backlit frames. Apparel, accessories, homeware and leather goods are showcased separately, with the main entrance featuring new arrivals.

The redesign transformed the open area into semi-private spaces ideal for browsing and conversation, re-creating the classic Chinese courtyard and installing stainless steel wire and leather seats to evoke traditional rattan detailing of traditional handmade furniture. The store is finished in a sophisticated palette of cream and mocha with black accents, and bright new windows will allow for stunning displays to please any visitor.
